Peter Pan Project – Hawthorne Care Home

Since January 2019, we have been fortunate enough to have 8 Year 2 pupils visit this care home each Friday afternoon to interact with the residents.  Each group spend 12 weeks building up relationships with the older residents.  They practice brain gym together while listening to a song of either the resident’s or pupils’ choice.   Each week they enjoy an activity together either initiated by one of the pupil’s hobbies or one of the residents.   It has been enormously successful and it has been wonderful to see how the friendships develop between the young and the old over the 12 weeks.    We would like to thank Kelly Hobday for involving our school.

Year 3 Castle Museum Brilliant Beginning Trip for the topic Invaders

On the first Friday of this Autumn term, Year 3 were whisked off to the castle for a fabulous Viking experience. We had the chance to meet Viking characters – including a trader, a brooch maker and a storyteller – as well as a metal detector who taught us about Viking artefacts and how we can use them to find out clues about the past. Everyone had a brilliant time and represented the school brilliantly. We recommend a visit to the permanent Viking exhibition at the castle if you get the opportunity!
