Being able to swim is an essential life skill which all children are expected to acquire.
There is a statutory requirement for schools to ensure that all pupils (except for those with recognised medical conditions which prevent them from participating in swimming lessons) leave Year 6 being able to swim at least 25m.
In July 2019 94% of Year 6 pupils could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
98% of Year 6 pupils could use a range of strokes effectively and all Year 6 pupils could perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
We have two swimming slots each week at Colman Junior School Swimming Pool. This enables pupils from Year 2 to Year 6 to swim regularly and follow a progressive and demanding swimming curriculum.
